Starting at Featherstone Castle it was cold and dry as Richard explained the walk
It was already VERY cold.

The sun made a feeble attempt to break through the clouds.
We saw lapwings flying and found a nest in a field
At lunchtime, the sleet started
It was hard to find shelter and the lunch break was very short
Then it rained or sleeted all day
In the Beaconhill Plantation we had some respite from the worst of the weather
The early growth on the birch snines red amongst the branches. Taken from Lambley Viaduct
The group gradually gathered on the bridge under the viadduct
Here is the group photo.
